- A house without a snag is about as likely as one without windows!

Despite repeated promises from house building companies defects in completed houses are still as high as ever. In a rush to get completion and the money that flows in with that particular element of the construction phase houses are offered as complete with often in excess of 70 snags still outstanding.

Defects in new houses are up over 5% on the previous years level.

As new houses are exempt from the sale of goods act it is unlikely that the situation will change in the foreseeable future.

It is difficult to imagine the motor industry offering cars with as many faults as we currently come across with new houses – and yet an average family saloon costs less than 10% of the current average house price of a detached 3 bedroom house!
